Zebre 20-40 Glasgow: Glasgow secure bonus-point victory in Italy

Glasgow sit firmly on top of Conference A with 58 league points

Glasgow Warriors tightened their grip on Conference A of the Guinness PRO14 with a bonus-point victory over Zebre at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi.

The win means the Scottish side remain comfortably clear of second-placed Munster having won all but one of their 13 PRO14 matches this season.

It's a run that includes no less than nine try-scoring bonus points while their Italian hosts sit at the opposite end of Conference A having picked up just three victories in the same time frame.

Glasgow opened their scoring after just seven minutes having opted to kick for touch as opposed to banking the three points that were on offer.

The decision proved to be the right one as Matt Fagerson touched down and Finn Russell kicked the first of his four conversions of the match.

Zebre struck back quickly as their No. 8 Renato Giammarioli made the most of a deft offload from his inside centre and Carlo Canna added their conversion.

Lee Jones put the visitors back in front before the work of Glasgow's forward pack extended their lead through a penalty try.

Marcello Violi nudged Zebre into double figures on 34 minutes but as the time ticked into the red Glasgow secured their bonus-point score.

After ten weeks on the sidelines due to injury, Adam Ashe made the decisive break for George Horne's seventh score of the season and the visitors held a 26-10 lead after 40 minutes.

Zebre struck first after the break through Maxime Mbanda before Jones ran in his second of the match. Horne drifted the pass out wide to Ruaridh Jackson who then flicked it to his winger to ensure the five-points.

The hosts refused to lie down and instead went in search of a try-scoring bonus point of their own. Tommaso D'Apice added their third however the final say on the scoreboard went to Glasgow.

Nick Grigg completed the try-scoring for Dave Rennie's side and Finn Russell slotted his fourth and final conversion of the day.
