EFL play-offs rules and format
The Championship, League One and League Two play-offs will be contested over two-legged semi-finals, with the winners meeting at Wembley.
The team that finished third (or fourth in League Two, where there were three automatic places available) will play the team that finished sixth (or seventh in League Two), with fourth and fifth meeting (or fifth and sixth in League Two).
The two highest-placed teams have home advantage in the second leg.
The semi-final winner is decided by the tie's aggregate score after two legs.
Away goals do not count double so if the aggregate score is level at the end of the 90 minutes in the second leg, 30 minutes of extra-time will be played. If the score is still level, the tie is decided by penalties.
The final must be decided on the day so extra-time and penalties may be required.
The winner of the final is promoted to league above the one in which they are currently.
